500 TwinAir wins Top City Car Manufacturer of the Year prize for Fiat
Published Date: 19 October 2011
It's been available in the UK for exactly a year, and Fiat's
remarkable two cylinder 500 TwinAir continues to scoop top
awards.
As a power unit, the 0.9 TwinAir is the current international
Engine of the Year, but this latest award - the 2011 GreenFleet
Awards City Car Manufacturer of the Year - highlights the car's
popularity, environmental credentials and low fuel economy.
Launched as an engine option last October, it was then
introduced as part of the 500 model line-up in it's own right in
June this year. The TwinAir range has a sporty and assertive
appearance, enhanced by black alloy wheels, burnished metal effects
on dashboard and front and rear mouldings, spoiler, chrome
exhaust pipe and sports seats.
But it's not all about good looks , the TwinAir engine is
capable of lively 0-62mph acceleration in 11 seconds, while maximum
speed is 108mph. It has incredibly low CO2 emmissions of just
95g/km, along with 68.9mpg fuel economy (combined cycle).
"Although a closely fought category again this year, the Fiat
500 TwinAir, with it's low consumption, two cylinder, clean petrol
engine, was the resounding choice for the City Car Manufacturer of
the Year Award", says Colin Boyton, GreenFleet Marketing Manager.
"Even though it is already an extremely popular choice out there, I
know we will be seeing many more take to the roads over the next
year, as businesses look for a maximum return on their fleet
investment. Well done Fiat, worthy winners."
The Fiat 500 TwinAir range starts at £11,600 OTR for the 0.9
TwinAir, rising to £15,500 OTR for the convertible 500C TwinAir
Lounge.
